Please note there are some important changes to the law on preventing
illegal working: The Government has produced a guide for employers
concerning the changes in section 8 of the Asylum and Immigration
Act 1996 which requires all employers in the United Kingdom to
make basic checks on EVERY person they intend to employ. By making
these checks and following the correct procedures the employers
should eliminate the risk of breaking the law and facing prosecution.
We recommend all clients to discuss these implications with their
legal advisers and to design their own strategy to ensure compliance
under this act.
