Leasing and Rental businesses offer both business clients and individuals a long or short term hire of a vehicle or vehicles. Leasing a vehicle is a much longer commitment compare to renting which is typically a short term solution, usually a few weeks maximum.

Leasing companies can be part of a Main Dealership or independently run and Rental businesses are most commonly privately owned businesses with many national rental franchises across the UK.

These can be large businesses and their operations require significant administration and accounting support. Typical Administration roles found in both vehicle rental and leasing businesses include; Service Administrators, Sales Administrators, Compliance Administrators, Purchasing Administrators and Vehicle Damage Assessors. This team all play an essential part in supporting the wider team, completing paperwork correctly and ensuring records are kept. It is important that the Administration team are highly organised, have excellent communication skills and knowledge of business compliance.

A Service Administrator within a Rental Business would be responsible for ensuring all the vehicles owned by the rental company are up to date on their service and MOT’s, will organise these to be carried out at the right time to avoid disruption to service and complete all the relevant documentation.

Depending on the size and structure of the business, they may have an in-house team of Accountants, Accounts Assistants and a Financial Controller. Some franchises will have a Group Accountant who will be responsible for a number of sites within a set region. The primary role of the Accounts Team is to manage and maintain the business accounts, produce forecasts and budget reports, reconcile balance sheets, chase debtors and ensure vehicle sales and purchase transactions are processed accurately. For the more senior roles, most employers will request that Senior Accountants are ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified.
