Working for a Parts Factor

motor trade jobs, New Job, advice and guides...

Working within a Parts Factor involves advising on and selling vehicle parts and accessories to Dealerships and Independently owned garages as well as directly to the general public.

Parts factors can be independently owned or be national businesses. Generally they will liaise with vehicle parts suppliers and sell these parts on to their customers either in bulk or as one off, requested parts. For Dealerships and Smaller Garages, having a good relationship with a Parts Factor is vital to ensuring they have the right stock or specialist part in order to repair a vehicle in a satisfactory time for the customer.

Most Parts Factors will offer a delivery service between set times and some will also have an outlet that Technicians can collect parts from. Most will operate Monday – Saturday to reflect the opening hours of most Bodyshops. Therefore, some weekend working should be expected, usually on a rota basis.

Parts Factors offer a range of career opportunities, from Warehouse Assistant to Parts Driver, Parts Sales Representative or Parts Advisor. There is a role to suit so many different skills and aspirations.
