We’re looking for a hands-on Workshop Controller to join our well-established, friendly team in Bury St Edmunds. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader who can lead from the front, set the standard for others, and keep the workshop running smoothly while getting involved in the work themselves.
The Role
You’ll oversee the day-to-day operation of our busy workshop, ensuring work is allocated efficiently, completed to the highest standards, and deadlines are met. This is a role for someone who enjoys being on the tools as well as managing people – you’ll set the pace and lead by example.
Key Responsibilities as a Hands on Workshop Controller:
- Allocate work to technicians and monitor productivity
- Carry out hands-on repair, servicing, and diagnostic work
- Ensure all jobs are completed to manufacturer and safety standards
- Motivate, support, and develop your workshop team
- Liaise with service advisors to keep customers updated
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
- Up to £37,000 basic salary (DOE)
- Strong bonus scheme to boost your earnings
- Monday–Friday only – 7.45am to 5.30pm

- Proven workshop controller, senior technician, or team leader experience
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to motivate a team while remaining hands-on
- Excellent organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
