Our client an Automotive Car Dealer Group is currently seeking Automotive Accounts Assistant who is ambitious and wishing to grow into a Management Account or Financial Controller.
As an Automotive Accountants Assistant, you will play a crucial responsibility in managing daily financial operations, including purchase and sales ledger, bank reconciliations, payroll, and management accounts. You will support the transition to a new cloud-based accounts, payroll and HR systems and work closely with experienced professionals to ensure smooth financial processes. Key Responsibilities as an Accountants Assistant:
- Manage purchase and sales ledger including invoice processing and credit control
- Perform bank account reconciliations and analyse transactions from multiple credit card machines
- Support payroll processing and HR administration, including employee records and holiday cover
- Assist with weekly and monthly management accounts, including data entry and reporting
- Reconcile nominal ledger and fixed asset schedules
- Maintain accurate records, ensuring compliance with audit standards
- Collaborate with the team for smooth daily financial operations and support ongoing improvements
- Proven experience in purchase ledger, credit control, or accounts assistant roles
- Solid understanding of payroll and HR basics (training available)
- Familiarity with motor trade accounting is highly desirable
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good knowledge of Excel and experience with accounting software (Pinnacle, Kerridge, or similar)
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Previous experience with cloud-based payroll systems
- Knowledge of fixed asset management
- Exposure to financial control or credit control functions
- Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping concepts
- Suitable experience in accounts support roles, ideally within the motor trade industry
- Formal accounting qualifications are not mandatory but a background in finance or accounting is beneficial
- At least 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Based primarily in Guildford but some flexibility can be offered
- Flexible working hours, ideally 3 days per week full time or 5 days a week from 10 am to 2:30 pm to accommodate school if you have children
- Willingness to undergo on-the-job training and develop accounting skills tailored to the motor trade
- Reliable, self-motivated, and eager to grow within the company
