Industry news

So, the Tux is dry cleaned, and I’ve practised tying and untying the bow-tie. Do I sit back now for the final few days before the big night?

Every year the Motor Trader Awards night is the glittering celebration of the great and the good of the Automotive Industry, and just being nominated is a massive achievement, well done to all of you.

What do you see this night as? A celebration, A social gathering or a chance to catch up with old friends?

Because for me it’s an opportunity for Perfect Placement to share in the successes of the Motor Trade. For 13 years now we have worked alongside this fantastic trade, supporting the dealer networks across the UK with our unique brand of specialist recruitment.

This is the third year we have been a principal sponsor, and we will be presenting one Motor Trade Business with the Coveted Award of 'Employer of the Year'.

Nominees are:

  • CarShop (Northampton)
  • Marshall Motor Holdings (Cambridge)
  • Stoneacre Motor Group (Doncaster)
  • Swansway Group (Crewe)

All of these businesses will have demonstrated to the judges that their employees feel something more than just an employee/employer relationship from working there. They feel valued!

When we talk to candidates about what they are looking for; although the language is different, you’d be surprised how many fall into Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. In agreement with Jessie-J, it’s not about the money (money, money).

Most fall into the top tier of the hierarchy of needs, ‘Self-actualization’. Maslow describes this level as the desire to accomplish everything that one can, to become the most that one can be. In real terms, this is being given opportunities to develop, grow and progress.

All of our award’s nominees have in some way shown that their employees can develop within the company, that they might offer training and development or internal progression. Whatever it may be they are being heralded on Wednesday night along with all the other nominees in other categories as shining lights of the Motor Trade.

We will be there on Tables 56 & 57, if you are there as well and want to pop over for a chat, we’d love to meet you.

A great night ahead.
