Bringing Back Smiles at Christmas Time

Our news

In the last year Perfect Placement has been part of a fantastic collective; Nelson’s Journey’s 20:Twenty. Twenty local companies raising money to support Nelson’s Journey in their vicennial year.

As a 20:20 collective we smashed our £20,000 target, raising well over £50,000.

In addition to this, this year (as we did last year) the staff of Perfect Placement have donated their Secret Santa money to provide gifts for Nelson’s Journey.

This year we are replacing their Audio Equipment. Music Activity is pivotal to the work Nelson’s Journey do with bereaved Children and Young People. During this activity, they play a small section of a range of tracks of varying music styles and encourage children and young people to write down how each track makes them feel. There is usually a selection of happy, sombre, heavy metal, thoughtful music that is played. The children and young people begin to realise that they can influence their mood when at home by listening to different music styles; this, in turn, assists with the grieving process.

We have provided new soft furnishings which are used at Hilltop Activity Centre for therapeutic weekends and activity days; the ones they have currently are 20 years old! We chose where possible bright and jolly colours. We have also provided toys. These toys are emergency service vehicles which Nelson’s Journey use with some children and young people to help them tell their story of how their special person died. They have a very tired looking set at the moment, some have doors or bits broken or missing (the police car is currently a convertible!), so replacements are going to be very welcome.

The work Nelson’s Journey does every year with Norfolk’s bereaved Children and Young People is absolutely amazing and incredibly heart-warming. Sadly there is little or no funding available save for what local businesses and donors can provide.

If you would like to help Nelson’s Journey continue their great work, please visit their donation page by clicking here

If you can donate, every bereaved child in Norfolk will look forward to a positive future, empowered to reach their full potential. Their and our ambition is perhaps best summarised by their strapline: bringing back smiles.
