Job seeker advice

With such a rich and diverse Automotive industry spanning all corners of the UK, we recognise that many of our candidates are willing to relocate in order to secure their dream role. While this can seem daunting at first, we’ve put together an area guide covering the key regions to give you as much information as possible in order to make an informed decision.

The South East of England is one of the largest regions in England and has the highest population. As a region it takes in the Counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Hampshire, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey and West Sussex; with many of these being London overspills and commuter belt areas. Its proximity to London and connections to several national motorways have led to South East England becoming an economic hub, with the largest economy in the country outside the capital and many businesses choosing this area as its base. It is the location of Gatwick Airport, the UK's second-busiest airport, and its coastline along the English Channel provides numerous ferry crossings to mainland Europe.

The area is a mix of rolling and splendid countryside and large cities and towns, with cathedral cities as well as two National Parks; the New Forest and the South Downs. The River Thames flows through the region and its basin is known as the Thames Valley.  The region has many universities one of which is the University of Oxford, ranked among the best in the world. Furthermore, this part of England is steeped in History, home to the site of the Battle of Hastings 1066. It is attractive to those wanting to have the amenities, employment and culture of London on their doorstep, but who equally want to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy the fresh air and space of the countryside.

For this reason, The South East is one of the most desirable places to live in the whole of the UK meaning that whilst property and the cost of living aren’t as expensive as London, they are significantly higher than in other parts of the UK.

Most of the Motor Trade Jobs in the area are centralised around the larger towns and cities, although in the more rural counties smaller businesses and family run dealers tend to be more prevalent. Given the population density and the proximity and easy transport links to London, many Motor Trade Jobs are filled swiftly in the South East and the market place is incredibly competitive. Automotive manufacturers in the area include: McLaren Automotive, Unipart Group and Vauxhall.

The motor trade job market is fast paced and often competitive but our team covering the South East have the knowledge and expertise to help you secure your dream role. We recruit across all disciplines of the motor trade in this area for new and used car dealerships, commercial vehicle dealerships, bodyshops and motor vehicle accident repair centres and also agricultural dealers as well a whole host of other automotive businesses.
