As an Accounts Assistant working within the Motor Trade you will be responsible for a variety of transactional duties. These would typically include; reconciling accounts and direct debits, dealing with client and supplier queries as well as being involved with credit control. In some instances you may be expected to undertake some general admin duties such as checking the accuracy of the accounts and sorting incoming/outgoing mail.

Automotive Accounts Assistants typically work within a Dealership and these can be independently owned, franchised or national businesses. Every Dealership will have their own way of working but in an Accounts Assistant they will be looking for someone with a strong attention to detail, who works accurately and to deadlines, has a professional manner with good communications skills and often an AAT qualification at a minimum.

The role of Automotive Accounts Assistant is a diverse one with lots of potential for growth and promotion for the right person. The natural next steps would be the role of Automotive Accountant, Accounts Manager, right up to Finance Director.

Typically, the hours of work for an Automotive Accounts Assistant are up to 40hours Monday-Friday. It is not often that you would be required to work weekends, but ultimately it depends on the business you are working within.
