The role of a Fast Fit Vehicle Technician is an important one within an automotive service department.  The main duties include the repair and servicing of vehicles to the highest of standards. This will include clutches, brakes, exhausts, tyre fitting, wheel alignment and MOT repairs.

As the job title suggests, this role is fast paced and team work is a key driver to success. Most Fast Fit Centres will accept walk in appointments as well as bookings and will work to deliver repairs as fast as possible within a compliant and health and safety regulated environment. You will be expected to work on a wide variety of cars and work to the manufacturer’s standard. At times this role will require direct interaction with customers so a friendly and professional approach is key.

Motor Trade experience is absolutely necessary in this role and employers will generally look to hire someone with minimum qualifications of NVQ level 2. A full UK Driving licence is also required for the role. Working within the servicing team it is crucial that a Vehicle Technician is a team player who works well under pressure and has a passion for both customer service and keeping up to date with the latest automotive technologies.

Typically a Vehicle Technician would report into the Centre Manager / Branch Manager and work closely with the rest of the service team including the Workshop Controller, Tyre Fitters and Senior Technicians. For the right person, these roles are all options for growth and promotion.

The average working hours for a Fast Fit Vehicle Technician are up to 45 hours per week and this will generally include some weekend working. In return, you will be rewarded with a great salary; usually between £20k -£25k depending on the location of the Bodyshop and experience of the individual. Technicians will receive a guaranteed base salary and can be rewarded with an efficiency bonus.
