Job seeker advice

Working in a Motorcycle Dealership is a fast paces and competitive environment. Like most Dealerships, a Motorcycle Dealership will vary in size and structure for example, some will be large, franchised businesses which sell motorbikes made by a single or dual manufacturer. These Dealerships will be made up of a showroom, a busy workshop and a sales, service and parts team. In contrast, a second hand Motorcycle Dealership will typically sell a wide range of second hand motorbikes from lots of different manufacturers.

The Sales Department is pivotal to the success of any Motorcycle Dealership. They are responsible for maximising all sales opportunities by delivering a tailored service, upselling additional products and services and exceeding customer expectations. In such a competitive industry, Dealerships prioritise service standards in order to stand out from their competitors; by delivering a positive and memorable experience for every customer they are more likely to gain repeat business and recommendations.

If you are just starting out on your career within the Motorcycle Sales Team you would typically start as a Motorcycle Sales Administrator and then progress onto Motorcycle Sales Executive , Senior Motorcycle Sales Executive, and Motorcycle Sales Team Leader and then all the way up to General Motorcycle Sales Manager. Other Sales roles include Local Business Development Manager and Retention Specialist plus many more. With such a variety of roles on offer and fantastic scope for progression, the Motorcycle Sales Department is an attractive career for many people.

Most employers will look to take on people who are well presented, have a passion for Motorbikes and have strong people skills. It important that members of the Sales Team can build rapport with customers, listen to their needs and communicate the solutions that best suit them. Working well under pressure and being self-motivated are also important traits to have in a sales role.

Hard work is recognised not only by a clearly mapped career path but with generous commission schemes meaning that if you’re a Salesperson who works hard and exceeds their targets you can earn a great salary in this type of work.
