Job seeker advice

Motorcycle Dealerships specialise in the sale or lease of motorcycles, parts and accessories. Many represent global brands and offer their customers an end to end service from sales, support, service and maintenance.

Motorcycle Dealerships can sell one brand or dual branded bikes, they can also be large multi franchise dealerships or second hand dealerships which sell a wide range of motorcycle makes and models. All Dealerships will have their own way of operating and their own identity but working at Management level for a Motorcycle Dealership is a highly rewarding career which encompasses a variety of different roles and responsibilities.

The departments which make up a Motorcycle Dealership generally include Sales, Retail Sales (clothing and accessories), Service, Parts, Accounting and Finance as well as Marketing. Typically each department will have its own Manager and then there will be a Senior Manager who oversees the Operation. In the Motor Trade this person is usually referred to as a General Manager or a Dealer Principal. The Manager of each department will have different responsibilities but will all act as the main driving force behind the success of their department and team.

Most businesses will hire managers with experience of the Motorcycle industry or at the very least, experience within the wider Motor Trade. A successful manager within a Motorcycle Dealership will be self-motivated, have excellent knowledge of the products and wider market and will lead by example.
