Job seeker advice

A Motor Factor or Parts Factor is a stockist of vehicle parts and accessories who will advise and sell their products to Main Dealerships, Independently owned garages as well as directly to the general public.

Many Parts Factors will offer a delivery service to their customers whether this is on large orders or a one off part that is urgently required to complete a job.  This is where the role of the Driving and Logistics Team comes in.

The logistics Manager will usually oversee the work of the Parts Drivers and collectively, they are key to ensuring the right products are in the right place at the right time.

A Parts Driver is responsible for conducting deliveries in a prompt and efficient manner and to maintain records as required. It is important that they maintain good working relationships with customers as in most cases they will be regular customers who will expect a high level of service.

A Motor Factor may supply parts to a wide radius of businesses so it essential that the Logistics Manager organises deliveries in the most efficient way possible.

Working in the Driving and Logistics team is fast paced but requires high attention to detail including the completion of relevant paperwork and the planning of deliveries.

Most Motor Factor Warehouses will operate Monday – Saturday to reflect the opening hours of most Bodyshops however some Parts Factors might offer out of hours delivery services. In these cases Drivers will be expected to work shift patterns to cover early starts and late evenings.
