Job seeker advice

The role of a Local Business Development Manager  (LBDV) centres on growing a Dealership by promoting and selling the products and services to the local business community.  This includes gaining new business and maximising profitability and sales opportunities of existing customers.

This role is most commonly based within Commercial Dealerships meaning the Business Development Manager will sell directly to other business. Sales will include fleets vehicles and company cars.

As an Automotive Local Business Development Manager you will be allocated a territory to cover. This will vary in size depending on the geography of the Dealership but you will be responsible for

promoting both the Sales and Aftersales department  to businesses throughout your territory in order to maximise business returning to the Vehicle Aftersales Department and increasing Dealership loyalty. A successful Local Business Development Manager will be highly organised, able to work alone and will manage their own diary.

This role involves dealing directly with customers, sales and implementing a strategy to grow the business therefore you will need to be able to build excellent relationships, possess desire and drive to prospect for new business and have a solid understanding of finance, leasing and fleet sales. Most employers will request a minimum of a proven track in B2B sales within the Automotive industry.

This is a perfect step up for an experienced Sales Advisor and is a role which provides the chance to progress and develop your skills, to help the right person progress in to a managerial position.

Typical working hours for a Local Business Development Manager are up to 40 hours per week. This could involve occasional weekend work, depending on the needs of the business. Most employers will offer bonuses up to £40,000 so basic salaries tend to start at £20,000. This role usually comes with a company car so a full UK Driving License is also a requirement.
