The role of an LCV Technician is a specialist role which involves carrying out vehicle inspections, services, general maintenance and repairs of Light Commercial Vehicles and Vans. The main duties of this role include carrying out checks and maintenance according to the manufacturers' guidelines, identifying and repairing any problems, producing time estimates and liaising with the Service Receptionist in order to keep customers informed of repair progress.

 

As an LCV Technician you will usually be based within a Workshop of a Commercial Dealership and will report into the Workshop Controller or Service Manager. It is important that you can work in a fast paced environment in a safe and professional manner while using your own initiative and problem solving skills. Working within a busy team means being a team player and able to communicate are integral to this role

 

Due to the specialist nature of this role, most employers will look to take on a Level 3 qualified technician and will want someone with workshop experience. Having a full UK drivers licence is essential in this role. This is the perfect role for a Vehicle Technician or Mechanic looking for a change in career and offers a progressive career pathway. The natural next steps on from this role would be Workshop Controller, Service Team Leader right up to Service Manager.

 

Typical working hours for an LCV Technician are up to 45 hours per week and this will generally include some weekend working. In return, you will be rewarded with a great salary; usually between £25k -£40k depending on the location of the Dealership and experience of the individual.
