05-09-2019
Job seeker advice

A Motor Factor or Parts Factor is a stockist of vehicle parts and accessories who will advise and sell their products to Main Dealerships, Independently owned garages as well as directly to the general public.

Larger Parts Factors will own warehouses where they will operate from and store the bulk of stock which will then be despatched to customers.

The team in the Warehouse will usually be made up of Warehouse Assistants, Parts Advisors, a Warehouse Manager, Parts Drivers and Shift supervisors. They play a vital role in ensuring customers are dealt with in a timely manner, stock levels are maintained and products are dispatched to the right place ensuring customer satisfaction at all levels.

Working in a Parts Warehouse is a physical job and requires knowledge on the stock itself as well as stock control. Warehouse Assistants will be responsible for picking, packing and dispatching of orders which may come via phone, in person or online.

There is scope for progression as Warehouse Assistants can progress to Parts Advisors and up to Warehouse Manager, alternatively they can utilise their knowledge on Parts to work in a Main Dealership or in Parts Sales.

Most Motor Factor Warehouses will operate Monday – Saturday to reflect the opening hours of most Bodyshops. Therefore, some weekend working should be expected, usually on a rota basis.
