Working in the Sales Department within a Main Dealership is a customer facing, target driven environment. With a variety of roles on offer, regular training and development opportunities and a clearly defined career path, the Dealership Sales Team is an attractive career choice for many.

There are different types of Car Dealerships and they will vary significantly depending on their size and location. A Main Car Dealership will sell cars made by a single or dual manufacturer and those who work there are expected to be experts on the cars, their manufacturer and the various models.

A Used Car Dealership differs in the sense that it will sell a wide range of second hand cars encompassing a variety of makes, models and manufacturers. These can be independent or franchised businesses.

The Sales Team in any Main Dealership will be responsible for driving sales by offering a stand out level of service to each and every customer. Today, Dealerships place great emphasis on building relationships with their customers in order to ensure repeat business and recommendations. This is what will set one Dealership apart from the rest.

If you are just starting out on your career within the Sales Team you would typically start as a Sales Administrator and then progress onto Sales Executive, Senior Sales Executive, Sales Team Leader and all the way up to General Sales Manager  . Other Sales roles include Local Business Development Manager and Retention Specialist plus many more.

Employers will generally look for someone who is self-motivated, professional in appearance and manner, good at building rapport and exceeding expectations and someone who is able to work well under pressure.

Most roles within a Main Dealership Sales Team will be commission based meaning you can earn a generous salary if you put the work in.
