Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Managing and reconciling the purchase ledger to ensure timely payment of suppliers and accurate record-keeping
- Processing sales and purchase transactions, including vehicle deals and finance arrangements
- Assisting with month-end and year-end accounts, including reporting and audit preparation
- Monitoring stock levels and ensuring all vehicle costs are accurately accounted for
- Conducting regular reconciliations of dealer cash and bank accounts
- Pricing and valuations of vehicles in stock, ensuring accurate depreciation and cost allocations
- Generating management reports on financial performance, gross profit, and other key metrics
- Supporting the finance team with administrative tasks such as invoicing, invoicing follow-ups, and financial data entry
- Ensuring compliance with FCA and dealership policies, including VAT and tax regulations
- Collaborating with departments to resolve financial discrepancies and improve processes
- Up to £42,000 basic salary for fulfilling these duties.
- Proven experience with Purchase Ledger management
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Proficiency with accounting software and Drive, Pinnacle, Xero, MS Office, especially Excel
- Attention to detail and high level of organisation
- Effective communication skills to liaise with various departments
- Experience as a Financial Controller or Accountant from a high paced Automotive sector
- Knowledge of dealership accounting processes and automotive industry standards
- Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and procedures
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within automotive or retail sectors
- Valid driving licence and willingness to commute within the Dartford area if required
- Ability to commit to a Monday to Friday workweek, with regular office hours
