Your responsibilities as a Workshop Controller will include:
  • Overseeing the daily workshop operations to ensure outstanding service delivery
  • Assigning jobs to vehicle technicians and managing workflow efficiency
  • Conducting quality control audits and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
  • Liaising with colleagues across departments to ensure seamless customer service
  • Estimating costs and timelines for repairs and servicing work
  • Providing technical support and mentoring to technicians and apprentices
  • Ensuring all work adheres to manufacturer standards, DVSA, and company policies
  • Monitoring parts ordering and inventory to support workshop efficiency
  • Upholding the dealership’s high standards of quality and customer satisfaction
Candidate requirements for the Workshop Controller role:
  • Relevant City & Guilds, BTEC or NVQ accreditation or equivalent
  • Proven experience in automotive workshop control or Service Advisor wanting to move into a workshop role
  • Strong organisation and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team
  • Proficient IT skills and a good eye for detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both face-to-face and via email
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure
  • Knowledge of DVSA regulations, health and safety standards, and manufacturer policies
