Service Manager - Banbury
  • Salary: £38-42,000 per annum, pending experience, plus a monthly performance-related bonus scheme (roughly £2,000 per annum).
  • Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm and Friday 8:30am-4:30pm.

Our client, a leading supplier of automotive emission testing equipment for the UK MOT aftermarket, is currently looking to recruit a Service Manager to lead their service operations team from their head office in Banbury.

Reporting to the Managing Director and working with a friendly, supportive team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our client's 16 field engineering team and 4 office-based service coordinators.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, one-to-ones and team meetings.
  • Handle employee relations matters including absence management, disciplinaries and grievances.
  • Identify training needs and support professional development across the team.
  • Review and streamline service processes to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and manage engineer workloads, ensuring optimal scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Analyse service data and KPIs to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure service level agreements are met for both direct customers and distribution partners.
  • Manage escalated technical and customer service issues.
  • Maintain high standards of service quality and technical accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements for field operations.
  • Work with the team to maintain accurate records and documentation.
In order to be eligible, you will need to have proven experience either managing field-based or mobile engineering teams, or have transferable experience in a management role in the automotive, MOT, or vehicle testing industry. Overall, you will have strong people management skills with experience in performance management and employee relations, with a track record of process improvement and operational efficiency gains, have excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be proficient with IT systems and comfortable working with service management software. A technical background in electronics, calibration or diagnostic equipment would be highly beneficial, but is non-essential.
