Diagnostic Technician – Ilkeston Independent Garage
  • Basic Salary: Up to £43,000 depending on experience
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:30pm
  • 1 in 2 Saturdays 8:00am – 12:30pm
  • Overtime Available

Responsibilities for the Diagnostic Vehicle Technician role:
  • Carry out advanced vehicle diagnostics using manufacturer and aftermarket diagnostic equipment to accurately identify electrical, mechanical, and software-related faults.
  • Interpret fault codes, live data, wiring diagrams, and technical bulletins to determine root causes and produce clear diagnostic conclusions.
  • Complete detailed diagnostic reports outlining findings, recommended repairs, and required parts, ensuring accurate handover to the repair team.
  • Liaise with workshop controllers and technicians to provide technical guidance and support on complex fault-finding cases.
Ideal Candidate needed for the Diagnostic Vehicle Technician role:
  • Proven experience in using diagnostic systems 
  • Qualified Vehicle Technician (Level 3 or equivalent preferred)
  • MOT licence preferred – training provided for the right candidate
  • A team player looking for a long-term role within a supportive team
