Are you an experienced vehicle technician seeking a flexible role that combines workshop and mobile work? We are recruiting on behalf of a well-known independent fleet maintenance business based in Southampton, Hampshire. They are looking for a skilled Mobile & Workshop Vehicle Technician (Hybrid role Available).

Founded by experienced Vehicle Technicians, they truly understand the needs of their team. Over the past 15 years, they have grown rapidly by developing new business and opening additional sites. The company works with large fleet operators, including a prominent supermarket chain, ensuring a steady flow of work and long-term stability for their employees.

Duties of a Mobile & Workshop Vehicle Technician (Hybrid role Available):
  • Performing automotive services and repairs on Ford Transits, Mercedes Sprinters, Volkswagen Crafters, and other light commercial vehicles
  • Conducting brake, clutch, and timing belt replacements
  • Engine stripping, fitting, and repairs
  • Gearbox, cambelt, and clutch repairs
  • Vehicle remapping and tuning (if interested)
  • Diagnosing faults using computer hardware and software
  • Making accurate estimates on job times and costs and advising customers appropriately
  • Maintaining workshop standards and safety procedures at all times
Candidate specifications for a Mobile & Workshop Vehicle Technician (Hybrid role Available):
  • Experienced in working with commercial vehicles, especially LCVs
  • Open to time-served mechanics and technicians without formal qualifications but with practical expertise
  • NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 is advantageous but not essential
  • MOT testing qualification is a plus
  • Confident communicator with good customer service skills
  • Flexible, proactive, and able to adapt to a dynamic workload
  • Organised, efficient, and able to manage time effectively
