Our client, a franchise-approved commercial vehicle dealer group with multiple sites nationwide, is looking to hire a fully qualified Commercial Vehicle Technician for their busy Swindon dealership to work on either heavy goods vehicles or light commercial vehicles/vans.
 
Reporting to the Workshop Controller and working as part of a friendly team, as a Commercial Vehicle Technician, your key objectives will include:
 
  • Performing major and minor repairs to either heavy goods vehicles or light commercial vehicles/vans.
  • Performing regular inspection and general preventive maintenance services.
  • Maintaining inventory in the workshop and ensuring cleanliness from oil spills and dust.
  • Working with repair teams to help diagnose and plan repairs for the vehicles.
  • Maintaining records of vehicles that have been repaired, using all appropriate modules of Keyloop/Kerridge.
  • Completing relevant documentation and paperwork as required and providing warranty claims or escalating them to higher management.
  • Carry out wheel alignment and tyre fitting.
  • Complete customer documentation while working to agreed time scales.

To be eligible, you need to be qualified to IMI/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in either Heavy Vehicle or Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, and ideally hold at least 1 to 2 years of practical experience post qualification. You will need to be a committed individual and a good team player. You must be able to produce high-quality work in a busy workshop environment and be motivated to work towards targets set for your team. Candidates with an HGV driving licence would be highly desired, but this is not essential.
