- Salary: Between £30-45,000 per annum, pending experience, with a workshop performance bonus paid monthly (around £5,000 per annum).
- Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:30pm with two 30-minute breaks.
Our client, a family-run independent service centre based in Wallingford, is currently looking to recruit a Vehicle Technician for their busy workshop that is well-known for quality and great customer service, operating since 1983.
Working alongside a close-knit, well-motivated and friendly team, as a Vehicle Technician, your main duties will include carrying out fault diagnosis, service, maintenance and repairs on customers' vehicles as instructed to the standards laid down by our client. You will need to ensure any faults are accurately diagnosed and report to the Workshop Manager as required on vehicle condition, safety, reliability and performance. You will also need to ensure that health and safety, as well as work quality procedures laid down by our client, are adhered to at all times. On occasions, you will also be required to assist at the front desk regarding booking in/out work and any general inquiries from customers regarding their vehicles.
Do you need to be qualified to be eligible? In short, no!
An IMI/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair would be highly advantageous, but our client is willing to consider candidates with no formal qualifications, provided they have extensive "time served" practical experience as a Vehicle Technician. You will have the ability to work independently and take initiative. You will need to hold a UK driving licence with minimal points, be a committed individual and a good team player. You must be able to produce a high quality of work in a busy workshop environment and be motivated to work towards targets set for your team. Applicants with a valid class 4 and 7 MOT testing license would be highly advantageous; however, this is non-essential.
