HGV Technician Vacancy – Commercial Fleet Workshop

Location: Ilkeston
Salary: Up to £45,000 Basic + Bonus + Benefits
Hours: 45 Hours Per Week
Contract: 24 Month FTC (Likely Extension)

About the Role:
  • An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HGV Technician to join a well-established commercial vehicle operation in Ilkeston
  • This role would ideally suit an experienced HGV Technician who is also comfortable working on LCVs, although individuals with strong LCV experience and a willingness to learn HGVs will also be considered
  • The business has a long-term workload forecast and offers excellent job stability, a supportive team environment, and ongoing opportunities to develop your technical skills

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and LCVs
  • Prepare and present vehicles for MOT testing
  • Complete six-week safety inspections and scheduled servicing
  • Diagnose faults using modern workshop diagnostic equipment
  • Carry out mechanical and cosmetic repairs as required
  • Complete warranty repairs in line with manufacturer guidelines
  • Replace and fit vehicle components efficiently and safely
  • Provide breakdown support when required
  • Maintain accurate workshop and compliance documentation
  • Work to DVSA and company standards at all times
About You:
  • Previous experience working on HGVs within a commercial vehicle environment
  • Experience working on LCVs beneficial
  • City & Guilds Commercial Vehicle qualification or equivalent preferred
  • HGV licence beneficial but not essential
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
  • Hardworking, reliable, and organised approach
  • Positive attitude with willingness to learn and develop
  • Strong communication skills and team mentality
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy workshop environment
