Vehicle Technician Vacancy - Independent Garage Northampton
  • Location: Outskirts of Northampton (commutable from Bedford / Milton Keynes area)
  • Salary: Up to £40,000 basic (depending on experience)
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
  • Overtime: Occasional Saturdays available, paid at time and a half
We are working with a well-established independent automotive workshop and body repair centre based on the outskirts of Northampton seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician to join their small, close-knit team.

The business operates a busy workshop covering servicing, diagnostics, mechanical repairs and bodywork/accident repair for a wide range of customer vehicles from everyday cars and vans through to prestige and specialist vehicles.

This is a hands-on, varied role where no two days are the same, and you’ll be trusted to work independently as well as alongside a small team of experienced technicians.

Key Responsibilities as a Vehicle Technician:
  • Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of vehicles
  • Mechanical repairs including brakes, clutches, suspension and timing components
  • Diagnostic fault finding using modern workshop equipment
  • Supporting MOT preparation and general inspection work
  • Occasional exposure to body repair and structural work within the wider workshop
  • Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timeframes
Requirements of the Vehicle Technician:
  • Qualified at Level 3 (or equivalent time-served experience)
  • Solid all-round workshop experience (minimum 2–3 years preferred)
  • Confident in routine servicing and mechanical repair work
  • Ability to diagnose faults and work independently where required
  • Reliable, practical and team-focused approach
  • MOT licence is beneficial but not essential
