Our client is seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician - Gear Box Specialist to join a dedicated automotive specialist workshop in Egham. The successful candidate will play a vital role in removing and refitting gearboxes, performing diagnostic tests, and supporting general mechanical work in a busy, state-of-the-art facility. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled technician looking to specialise further and work in a dynamic environment.

Benefits

  • Competitive basic salary of £35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience
  • Revenue-based monthly bonus, approximately £400 per month on a £40,000 salary
  • Working hours Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm with a 45-minute lunch break
  • Opportunity for ongoing training in gearbox strip/rebuild techniques
  • Localised site with on-site parking and modern facilities
Duties

  • Remove and refit gearboxes on a variety of vehicle makes and models
  • Conduct test drives and use diagnostic equipment to identify faults
  • Support with general mechanical tasks such as services and brakes
  • Assist with gearbox stripping and rebuilding as training progresses
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship and follow safety protocols
Requirements

  • Proven experience as a time-served mechanic with a solid all-round skill set
  • Ability to remove and refit gearboxes confidently
  • Own toolbox and diagnostic/test-drive capabilities
  • Practical and team-oriented mindset, willing to undertake heavy gearbox work
  • Local candidates preferred, ideally based around M25 / M3 / A3 corridors
  • No specific certifications required, but gearbox rebuild experience is desirable
