Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester - Forest Hill, Greater London

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join a reputable, family-run service centre in Forest Hill, Greater London. This role is ideal for experienced automotive professionals who are proactive, reliable, and looking to develop their career within a friendly team environment. The position offers a great balance of professional challenge and a supportive workplace atmosphere.

Benefits:
  • Competitive salary between £35,000 and £40,000 based on experience and skills
  • Monday to Friday working hours from 8am to 5:30pm
  • 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing to 22 days after five years

Duties:
  • Perform vehicle servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance to high standards
  • Conduct MOT testing in accordance with DVSA regulations (qualification preferred)
  • Carry out repairs including clutches, timing belts, chains, and other mechanical components
  • Assist with general workshop tasks to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Use diagnostic scanners and electronic systems to identify faults
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Provide excellent customer service and clear communication with clients
Requirements:
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester, preferably within a main dealer or independent garage
  • Ability to carry out diagnostics and mechanical repairs confidently
  • MOT certification is highly desirable but not essential
  • Own tools and the ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Positive attitude, professional approach, and good communication skills
