HGV Driver/Yard Operative - Avonmouth.
  • Salary: Around £30,000 per annum, pending experience. 
  • Hours: 40-hour week, Monday to Friday.
Our client, a large franchise-approved commercial vehicle dealership in the Avonmouth region, requires an experienced and professional HGV Driver/Yard Operative to join their team.

Reporting to the Centre Manager, as a HGV Driver/Yard Operative, your main duties will include:
  • Safely operating commercial vehicles, collecting customer vehicles from various sites and presenting vehicles for MOT.
  • Carrying out road tests of vehicles following workshop repairs and reporting findings to the Workshop Manager.
  • Conducting pre and post-trip vehicle checks and reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Ensuring vehicles are parked safely and in designated areas at all times.
  • Loading and unloading with care and ensuring items are secured properly during transit.
  • Assisting with workshop operations and maintaining a tidy workplace and yard space.
  • General housekeeping of the yard area, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
  • Maintaining internal and external building and yard areas.
  • Covering other locations when required with flexibility across sites.
To be eligible, you will need to have a Class 1 HGV driving licence with minimal points. Previous experience in a similar collection/delivery role or experience working with vehicles or in a similar workshop/yard operative role would be highly advantageous to our client; however isn't essential as training is provided. Overall, you will be logistically minded, a team player, organised, presentable, and a good planner with a thorough understanding of the South West region.
