HGV Technician pportunity in Huncote, Leicestershire
  • Salary: Up to £23.00 per hour depending on experience 
  • Hours: 47.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday – Earlies or Lates (hours negotiable)
This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to work across a wide range of HGVs, trailers and plant equipment, providing much more variety than a typical workshop position. The successful individual will be joining a team where their skills and experience will be valued and where there are opportunities to develop further.

What You'll Be Working On You'll diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues across:
  • Plant Vehicles | HGV Chassis Cabs | Trailers
  • JCB Telehandlers, Loading Shovels and 360 Diggers
  • Access platform cherry pickers
  • DAF
  • Volvo
  • Renault
  • Hook lift
  • Tanker
  • Curtain sider
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out 6-weekly vehicle and trailer inspections and servicing
  • Complete preventative maintenance and MOT preparation
  • Service and repair telehandlers and plant vehicles
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment, including Jaltest
  • Repair and replace components including engines, transmissions, brakes, AdBlue, ABS and electrical systems
  • Attend breakdowns, including telephone, roadside and customer site diagnostics as part of an on-call rota
  • Carry out general repairs and maintenance on plant vehicles
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used and time allocated
  • Communicate effectively regarding repairs, parts required and expected completion times
  • Follow company health and safety procedures at all times
About You:
  • 4+ years' practical experience as an HGV and/or Plant Mechanic
  • Experience working across multi-brand vehicles
  • IRTEC certification
  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
  • A good work ethic and dependable approach
  • A positive, can-do attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills
Desirable:
  • 6+ years' practical experience
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Knowledge of LOLER regulations
  • Experience with Hooklift / RORO equipment
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems
