We are currently recruiting for a dedicated HGV Technician to join our reputable Service Department team based in Askam-in-Furness, Cumbria.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking to develop their career within a well-established, family-run automotive business serving clients across the North. The successful HGV Technician will be integral to maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles, ensuring all vehicles meet safety and roadworthiness standards.

Duties as a HGV Technician will include:
  • Conduct routine maintenance inspections on HGVs to identify faults and defects
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and perform necessary repairs
  • Service vehicles and carry out preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer guidelines
  • Prepare vehicles for MOTs in accordance with DVSA standards
  • Complete and maintain accurate records of work, parts used, and diagnostic information
  • Perform road tests to confirm repairs have been successful
  • Adhere to health and safety standards within the workshop environment
  • Support fellow team members and assist with workshop tasks as needed
  • Provide excellent customer service by clearly communicating repair findings and solutions
Requirements that the HGV Technician wil need:
  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar heavy vehicle repair role
  • Strong knowledge of HGV systems, components, and repair techniques
  • NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure
  • Flexibility and a proactive approach to the role
