A well-established automotive dealership in Chelmsford, Essex, is seeking an experienced Workshop Controller to join their busy service team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to take on a vital role in managing the workshop operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high customer satisfaction.

Duties:
  • Coordinate the daily workflow of the workshop to ensure efficient processing of vehicles
  • Allocate work to technicians based on skills, experience, and workload
  • Monitor vehicle progress throughout repairs and servicing to meet deadlines
  • Liaise closely with the Aftersales Manager regarding workshop capacity and operational concerns
  • Communicate regularly with customers, providing updates and managing expectations
  • Oversee job cards and workshop documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards before vehicle release
  • Collaborate with Parts Department to ensure availability of parts and resources
  • Support the Aftersales Manager in maintaining an organised, productive, and customer-focused workshop
  • Enforce workshop health and safety procedures and company policies
  • Monitor technician productivity and ensure timely completion of jobs
  • Support continuous improvement of workshop processes and standards
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a Workshop Controller, Service Advisor, Senior Technician or similar role
  • Strong understanding of vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and repair processes
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Strong communication skills when dealing with customers and colleagues
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple jobs efficiently
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy environment
  • Good IT skills, with experience maintaining job records and documentation
  • Proactive attitude towards problem-solving
  • Full UK driving licence
