Workshop Controller - Treforest
  • Salary: Starting basic salary circa £30,000 per annum, with an OTE of £36,000 per annum; however, this can be heavily exceeded.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Our client, a large, long-established multi-franchise approved car dealership based in the Treforest region, is currently looking to recruit a Workshop Controller to join their busy Service Department following an internal promotion.

Reporting to the Aftersales Manager, you will be accountable for an 11-ramp workshop, overseeing a team of 10-12 Vehicle Technicians.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Day-to-day control of the workshop team.
  • Liaise with the Aftersales Manager and team to ensure the best process.
  • Ensure customer requirements are fully understood and communicated effectively to other members of the Service Department.
  • Monitor individual and workshop efficiencies to ensure key performance indicators are met.
  • To calculate and manage the effective use of the workshop.
  • Plan the distribution of work among the team utilising the available skills mix.
  • Identify individual training and development needs.
  • Manage liaison between workshop and service reception on customer vehicle progress.
  • Manage workshop standards by HSO requirements.
  • Ensure understanding and adherence to the requirements of brand service requirements and customer satisfaction indicators.

To be eligible, you will ideally live in the Treforest region or live within a reasonable commuting distance to Treforest and will need to have a proven track record in running a successful automotive workshop for the past three years, ideally within a franchise-approved car dealership. Overall, you will have excellent communication skills, good interpersonal skills and team orientation, be results-oriented, have problem-solving and decision-making skills, put a focus on quality and reliability, and be IT literate. You will also need to have a UK driving licence with minimal points.

For your hard work as a Workshop Controller, our client is offering:
  • Starting basic salary circa £30,000 per annum
  • £36,000 OTE based on CSI, Labour Sales and Upsell. This is uncapped and can be heavily exceeded. 
  • Full in-house and manufacturer-approved training provided.
  • Workplace pension scheme. 
  • 22 days annual holiday allowance plus 8 bank holidays, increasing over the continuous length of service.

  • Working hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday.
