We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established independent automotive specialist in Oldham, who are going through an exciting period of growth and are looking for a technically minded Workshop Controller to join their busy team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong technical background who is ready to come off the tools and take on a more supervisory role, helping to manage the day-to-day running of a busy workshop.

The site is primarily their dedicated van centre, although the workshop also looks after a wide range of cars, so experience working across different vehicle types would be beneficial.

The Role

As Workshop Controller, you’ll play a key role in keeping the workshop running efficiently, supporting the technicians and ensuring work is completed to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing the day-to-day workflow of the workshop
  • Allocating jobs to technicians based on skillset and workload
  • Supporting and supervising the workshop team
  • Carrying out quality control and ensuring repairs meet company standards
  • Diagnosing and assisting with technical issues where required
  • Liaising with the Service/Workshop Manager and wider team
  • Helping to maximise workshop productivity and efficiency
  • Ensuring health & safety and company procedures are followed
  • Providing technical support and guidance to less experienced technicians
  • Helping to maintain excellent levels of customer service
The client is open to individuals from a variety of backgrounds. You could currently be working as a:
  • Workshop Controller
  • Senior Technician
  • Master Technician
  • Diagnostic Technician
  • Experienced Vehicle Technician looking to progress
  • Workshop Supervisor
You’ll need a strong technical background, excellent knowledge of vehicle repair and servicing, and the confidence to lead and support a busy team.

Most importantly, they’re looking for someone who is organised, technically capable and keen to progress into a workshop management position.
