Our client, a leading provider of trailer and fleet solutions, is looking to recruit an experienced HGV Trailer Mechanic to join their busy workshop in Shepshed, Leicestershire. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HGV or Trailer Technician to join an established business that invests in its employees through ongoing training, quality equipment and excellent company benefits. You will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of HGV trailers and trucks, ensuring all work is completed safely and vehicles are maintained to the required standards.
  • Salary: £44,000 per annum
  • OTE: Up to £55,000 per annum including overtime
  • Hours: Monday–Thursday, 7:00am–5:00pm; Friday, 7:00am–4:30pm
  • Overtime: Paid at 1.5x
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine inspections, servicing and Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) on HGV trailers and trucks.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Carry out repairs to braking, suspension, electrical and bodywork systems.
  • Replace, repair and adjust vehicle components as required.
  • Ensure all maintenance and repair work meets DVSA compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing and repairs.
  • Ensure vehicles are returned to a safe and roadworthy condition.
  • Work closely with the wider workshop team to maintain efficient operations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
Our client is looking for a skilled HGV Trailer Mechanic with:
  • Previous experience as a Trailer Mechanic, HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Fitter or in a similar heavy vehicle role.
  • A Level 3 Heavy Vehicle qualification or equivalent time-served experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, braking and suspension systems.
  • An understanding of vehicle safety and DVSA compliance requirements.
  • IRTEC certification, or a willingness to work towards it.
  • A proactive, safety-conscious approach to work.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
