Working Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 16:30, for 45 hours per week, the VMU Manager will receive a basic salary of £50,000 to £55,000 depending on experience. Flexibility will be required to meet operational demands.

- Lead by example, creating a positive, productive and supportive working environment
- Spend at least 60% of your time managing, guiding and developing the workshop team
- Plan and control workforce resources to meet customer fleet demands
- Manage and control labour costs, including the use of third-party contractors
- Ensure compliance with safety audits and approved working practices
- Plan facilities, bays, machinery, tools and diagnostic installations effectively
- Support the optimal design of workplace layouts and operational processes
- Prepare plans and calculations for workshop, facilities and staffing investments
- Regularly review workshop service pricing and make agreed adjustments in line with market conditions
- Measure and report on daily workshop performance across retail sales, warranty and internal contracts
- Manage work in progress and maintain effective cash control
- Support recruitment, induction and the retention of high-quality team members
- Coach, motivate and develop employees to achieve their full potential
- Set targets with employees and regularly review performance against agreed objectives
- Previous experience as a VMU Manager, Commercial Workshop Controller or Commercial Service Manager
- Strong experience managing a commercial vehicle workshop or fleet-focused operation
- Proven ability to lead, coach and motivate a team
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, solutions-focused approach
- Experience planning workforce resources and controlling labour costs
- Understanding of workshop performance, work in progress and cash control
- Ability to manage contractors, facilities, equipment and operational processes
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality and customer service
