Design Engineer

As a result of continued growth, our client, a well established and very successful Manufacturer in Norfolk is looking for an experienced Design Engineer 

  • Very competitive pay (dependent on experience) 
  • 25 days holiday per year, plus bank holidays.
  • Early finish on Fridays.
  • 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The Designe Engineer Role:

We are searching for an excellent candidate, capable of driving and owning engineering projects from concept to completion.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will provide engineering solutions and improvements to new and on-going engineering projects. You will have experience in the full “design for manufacture” process. The role will incorporate direct customer interfaces with fellow engineering professionals.

As part of your Design Engineer role, your key responsibilities / duties will include:
  • “Hands-On” Design, incorporating both inspection and assembly
  • Extensive knowledge of Hydraulic applications and Sealing systems
  • Designing from customer expectations, producing 3D CAD Models and detailed drawings
  • Use of Engineering Principals such as Mechanical & Structural constraints, geometric tolerance and appropriate material selection
  • DFMEA & DV report writing
  • BoM writing (into our in-house ERP System)
  • Customer facing: Presentation of Engineering solutions
  • Analysing engineering data and evaluating the results
The Suitable Design Engineer:
  • An excellent understanding of 2D & 3D CAD software (Solidworks 3D as a preference)
  • Degree Educated in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (will accept an HNC / HND if you have relevant industry experience)
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, transmission, and their applications
  • Experience / understanding of machining methods and principles
  • Proven track record working from concept to completion
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ambitious character traits with a “can do” attitude and drive to embrace and promote company vision goals & expectations.
  • Embrace and promote the culture of continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills, written & verbal
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent organisational, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Can work as part of a team or on own initiative
  • The ability to read, write and understand English.
