Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely alongside two Depot Managers, as a Transport Manager you will be required to float between our client's two depots in Kington and Eardisley. Our client provides public/private transport services across the Herefordshire and Powys regions and operate a number of school’s contracts. They are a family-run business operating since the 1920's and renewed their fleet in 2020. You will play a pivotal role ensuring compliance with passenger transport legislation and regulations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the efficient allocation of resources using industry software in compliance with regulation and best practice.
- Ensuring appropriate consultation over work allocation between Depot Mangers and Drivers.
- Leading and managing the operations team ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, contracts, guides, and handbooks.
- Managing the recruitment, induction, and probation of qualified and trainee Drivers.
- Line-managing local Drivers (bus services and school transport).
- Leading the performance and development review process of operations staff and Drivers.
- Liaising with engineering/workshop teams to ensure vehicle availability to meet operational requirements.
- Responding to accidents, breakdowns, and vehicle/staff changes.
- Pricing private hire work and actively marketing spare capacity.
- Conducting spot checks on Driver and vehicle standards.
- Ensuring accurate timesheets and receipts provided to payroll by required deadline.
