Diagnostic Vehicle Technician Required in Cranleigh, Surrey 
  • Pay: Up to £45k DOE and Qualifications + £53k Realistic On Target Earnings 
  • Hours: 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday ONLY 
We are currently working with a Family Run Automotive Prestige Service Centre who are currently looking for a new Diagnostic Vehicle Technician to join their workshop team of experienced Vehicle Technicians, Motors Engineers and MOT Te sters. 

They are seeking an Experienced Vehicle Technician who is capable of Servicing, Mechanical repairs and fault finding to join their expanding and highly experienced mechanical team to keep up with customer demand.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Vehicle Technician who is looking to take on additional responsibility in their automotive career. They reward highly and put their employees through extensive training programme to level up your career even faster. 

Within this Diagnostic Vehicle Technician role your typical duties will include: 
  • Vehicle Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify any issues or malfunctions. This may involve performing visual inspections, listening for abnormal sounds, and conducting diagnostic tests using specialised equipment. 
  • Diagnostic Testing: Use diagnostic equipment such as vehicle scanners, multimeters, and oscilloscopes to analyse vehicle systems and pinpoint the root cause of problems. This includes diagnosing issues related to the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and onboard computers.
  • Interpreting Diagnostic Codes: Interpret diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) generated by onboard vehicle computers (ECUs) to identify specific problems. They must have a deep understanding of vehicle systems and the ability to correlate DTCs with potential faults.
  • Troubleshooting: Methodically diagnose and troubleshoot complex automotive issues by following systematic procedures. This may involve testing individual components, conducting voltage and resistance checks, and analysing data from diagnostic tests. Repair and Maintenance: Once the problem has been identified, perform necessary repairs or adjustments to restore the vehicle to proper working condition. This could involve replacing faulty components, repairing wiring or connectors, adjusting engine parameters, or reprogramming vehicle software.
  • Software Updates: Keep abreast of software updates and recalls issued by vehicle manufacturers, and perform updates or reprogramming of vehicle software as necessary to address known issues or enhance performance.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of diagnostic tests, repair procedures, parts used, and work performed on each vehicle. This documentation is essential for tracking maintenance history, warranty claims, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Customer Communication: Communicate findings and recommendations to customers in a clear and understandable manner. This includes explaining the nature of the problem, the required repairs, estimated costs, and any preventative maintenance measures that may be advisable.
  • Continuing Education: Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies, diagnostic techniques, and repair procedures through ongoing training and professional development. This ensures that Diagnostic Technicians remain proficient in their field and capable of addressing new challenges as vehicles evolve.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when working on vehicles, including proper handling of hazardous materials, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and compliance with environmental regulations.
