Our client, a well-established and highly reputable Car Dealership Bodyshop in Guildford, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Bodyshop Workshop Controller to join their industry leading automotive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional with strong automotive administration and communication skills to advance their career in the automotive industry.

You will lead a skilled team of over 12 professionals, including Paint Sprayers, Panel Beaters, MET Technicians, and administrative staff, ensuring seamless Bodyshop operations and delivering exceptional results that uphold the company’s reputation for excellence. Motor Trade Experienced Service Administrators / Service Advisors encouraged to apply! 

Key Responsibilities as a Bodyshop Controller:
  • Operational Management: Oversee daily job allocation, workflow, and resource planning to ensure timely completion of repairs.
  • Team Leadership: Conduct daily progress meetings, track job statuses, address bottlenecks, and foster a positive, disciplined team environment.
  • Performance Optimisation: Drive productivity and profitability by setting and achieving departmental targets while minimising downtime.
  • Quality Control: Maintain rigorous standards in line with company procedures and industry regulations (e.g., ISO 9002, PAS 125/BSI Kitemark).
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely completion of job cards, maintaining detailed records for audit and compliance.
  • Final Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections and sign off on completed work to guarantee high-quality standards.
  • Customer Liaison: Communicate with customers, insurance companies, and stakeholders to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of materials and parts, coordinating with suppliers for efficient inventory control.
  • Health & Safety: Implement and enforce protocols to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.
Experience & Requirements for the Bodyshop Controller Role:
  • Essential: Automotive administration, customer service or Bodyshop knowledgeable candidates 
  • Administration Skills: Strong ability to manage job cards, track progress, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills to engage with team members, customers, and external partners.
  • Desirable: Experience in a Main Dealer Bodyshop, though Bodyshop Controllers from independent or insurance-based repair centres are welcome.
  • Leadership: Ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team while maintaining a proactive, hands-on approach.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship that meets or exceeds industry standards.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with industry software (e.g., Audatex, Thatcham Times) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Safety Knowledge: Understanding of health and safety regulations in a workshop setting.
