Are you an experienced automotive professional with a passion for fleet management and workshop leadership? We’re seeking a proactive Workshop Controller / Fleet Controller to join a reputable, family-run service centre in Croydon. This dynamic role combines workshop oversight with fleet operation management, offering a rewarding environment for candidates looking to advance their career in a busy, expanding centre.

Position Overview:

In this vital role, you will oversee the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring smooth workflow and high-quality service delivery, whilst managing fleet contracts and associated processes. Your experience in workshop control, fleet management, or senior technician roles will be instrumental in ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and excel at coordinating teams and client needs, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities as a Workshop Controller / Fleet Controller:
  • Manage and coordinate daily workshop activities to optimise productivity and quality standards
  • Oversee fleet contracts and ensure compliance with service schedules
  • Act as the main contact for fleet clients, advising on vehicle servicing and repairs
  • Collaborate closely with technicians to monitor job progress and ensure timely completion
  • Coordinate parts ordering, workshop scheduling, and workflow management
  • Maintain high levels of customer service and operational excellence
Required Skills:
  • Extensive experience in workshop control, fleet management, or senior technical roles (minimum 10+ years in the automotive industry)
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills to oversee a busy workshop and fleet operations
  • Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on customer relations
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with fleet management platforms or CRM systems such as Kerridge / Pinnacle
  • Knowledge of in-house software for parts ordering and workshop loading
  • Familiarity with van fleet management or commercial vehicle operations
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Relevant automotive qualifications or certifications
  • Experience leading a workshop or fleet service centre in a similar environment
Other Requirements:
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Enthusiasm for delivering top-tier customer service and operational efficiency
  • Flexibility to manage workload as per business needs
This role offers a competitive basic salary of up to £38,000, plus bonuses of approximately £250–£300 per month, with working hours Monday to Friday (8am – 5.30pm). Join a family-oriented team expanding into a new van centre with lucrative contracts, and take your career to the next level.
