As a General Sales Manager, you will be responsible for leading and motivating the sales team to meet and exceed sales targets for new and used vehicles. Your key duties will include developing effective sales strategies, coaching team members, managing customer sales processes, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, and ensuring the overall profitability of the dealership. You will oversee daily operations, support finance and administration teams, and ensure FCA compliance whilst maximising dealership efficiency.
Candidate requirements for the General Sales Manager
- Proven experience managing automotive sales teams within main dealership environments or similar
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of motivating and developing teams
- Consistent success in achieving and surpassing sales targets
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and customer service skills
- Sound understanding of sales processes, finance options, and upselling opportunities
- Resilience, enthusiasm, and a customer-focused mindset
- Knowledge of FCA and insurance compliance requirements
- Previous managerial or supervisory experience within the automotive sector
- Ability to lead operational goals and manage team performance effectively
- Valid UK driving licence
- Flexibility to work on Saturdays and Sundays as part of the rota
