Fleet Vehicle Technician - Abingdon
  • Salary: Starting salary up to £38,355 per annum plus overtime and signing-on bonus.
  • Hours: 40-hour week: 7:00am- 3:30pm Monday to Friday with a half-hour lunch.

Our client, a global shipping and logistics services provider, is looking to recruit a Vehicle Technician on the early shift for their fleet workshop in Abingdon.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager and working with a close-knit and friendly team, you will be responsible for maintaining our client's fleet of vehicles, ranging from light vans to tractor and trailer units and their growing alternative fuel fleet. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Servicing vehicles – carrying out checks and maintenance according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Repairing and replacing faulty parts and components.
  • Vehicle inspections.
  • Working on medical equipment and electric/hybrid vehicles. Full training provided.
  • Vehicle diagnostics and fault finding.
To be eligible, you will need to live within a reasonable commuting distance of Abingdon, be qualified to an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in either light or heavy vehicles, and have a UK driving licence with minimal points (a C1 7.5 tonne licence would be an advantage, although it isn’t essential). You will have relevant workshop experience involving all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair, as well as having a good understanding of health and safety requirements within a workshop setting. Overall, you will be organised and methodical with the capability to work towards a deadline, can work on your initiative, have excellent communication skills, be a team player, and take pride and professionalism in all your work. Any experience with either hybrid or electric vehicles would be beneficial, but is non-essential as full training is provided.
