HGV Technician Vacancy – Corby

  • Position: HGV Technician
  • Location: Corby, Northamptonshire
  • Salary: £47,000
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours 
  • Rotating Shift Pattern: 6am - 2:30pm / 9:30am - 6:00pm (30 minute lunch)
  • No Weekends or Call Outs 
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays 

A well-established organisation in Corby is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their in-house workshop team. The business operates a modern commercial fleet and continues to invest heavily in its people, equipment, and long-term stability.

HGV Technician Responsibilities:
  • Inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of HGVs and company commercial vehicles in line with Department of Transport standards
  • Rectifying reported driver defects and completing all relevant service documentation
  • Carrying out diagnostics and fault finding on mechanical and electrical systems
  • Road testing vehicles to confirm quality and completion of repairs
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT and liaising with external workshops for specialist repairs where required
  • Attending breakdowns on-site and off-site when necessary
  • Undertaking repairs on associated equipment where required (e.g. forklifts and workshop equipment)
  • Supporting workshop operations, including ad-hoc cover for supervisory duties when required

Requirements / Experience:
  • Previous experience as an HGV Technician, Commercial Vehicle Technician, or similar role
  • City & Guilds in Motor Vehicle Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • IRTEC License advantageous but training can be provided 
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
  • Good understanding of Department of Transport compliance and operating standards
  • HGV licence desirable but not essential
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
