We are currently recruiting for an experienced Vehicle Technician to join a busy, well-established independent garage in the Kettering area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Technician looking for a long-term position with a friendly, supportive team, excellent working hours and a competitive salary.
The Role
The successful candidate will be an experienced and capable Vehicle Technician who can confidently carry out a wide range of servicing, diagnostic, maintenance and repair work.
A current Class 4 MOT Tester licence would be highly desirable, with candidates expected to provide evidence of recent MOT testing experience and current DVSA certification.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs across a variety of vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment
- Carry out MOT testing and MOT-related repairs where qualified
- Replace brakes, tyres, cambelts and clutches
- Carry out engine repairs, including head gasket replacement
- Undertake gearbox replacement and associated repairs
- Diagnose and repair air conditioning systems, including re-gassing
- Carry out welding and other general mechanical repairs where required
- Complete work efficiently, accurately and to a high standard
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop
- Complete accurate job documentation and communicate work required clearly
Requirements:
- At least 3 years' experience as a Vehicle Technician
- Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills
- Strong experience carrying out vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and mechanical repairs
- Confident working on brakes, tyres, MOT repairs, cambelts, clutches and head gasket replacements
- Additional experience with air conditioning systems, re-gassing and welding would be advantageous
- A current Class 4 MOT Tester licence is desirable
- C&G or NVQ Level 2/3 in Motor Vehicle Technology is preferred, although proven experience will also be considered
- A full UK driving licence
If you are an experienced Technician without an MOT licence, there may also be an opportunity to undertake the DVSA MOT Tester training in the future.
