  • £45,000 - £50,000 basic salary, depending on experience
  • Monday to Friday, No weekends
  • 7:30am - 5:00pm, with flexibility

An established Accident Repair Centre in Bedford is looking for an experienced Workshop Controller to join its busy and growing team.

The centre has been increasing its vehicle repair volumes recently and is now looking to strengthen its management structure with an experienced Workshop Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can effectively manage the day-to-day running of the workshop, ensuring vehicles move through the repair process efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and customer service.

As a Bodyshop Workshop Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing workshop workflow, allocating work to technicians, monitoring repair progress and ensuring jobs are completed efficiently and to the required standard.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day workflow of the bodyshop 
  • Allocate repair work to technicians based on skills, workload and job requirements
  • Monitor vehicle repair progress and ensure agreed timescales are achieved
  • Liaise closely with the Bodyshop Manager and wider management team
  • Ensure technicians have the correct parts, information and resources required to complete repairs
  • Monitor productivity, efficiency and repair quality
  • Carry out regular quality checks throughout the repair process
  • Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer and company standards
  • Support technicians with technical and repair-related queries where required
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment
  • Work closely with estimators, parts staff, repair technicians and the wider bodyshop team
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Workshop Controller within an accident repair centre/bodyshop
  • Strong understanding of vehicle accident repair processes
  • Excellent knowledge of bodyshop workflow and repair procedures
  • The ability to effectively manage and prioritise a busy workload
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Good attention to detail and a strong focus on repair quality
  • The ability to motivate and support a team of technicians
  • A professional and proactive approach to problem solving
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet agreed repair deadlines
  • Experience working to manufacturer and/or insurer repair standards would be advantageous
Benefits:
