  • Salary: Up to £42,423 per annum, depending on experience, plus optional overtime paid at time-and-a-half rate.
  • Hours: Week 1: 7:00am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday. Week 2: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday to Friday.
Our client, one of the UK’s leading roadworks recovery specialists situated in the Caldicot area, is currently looking to hire a skilled Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Technician for their busy Service Department.

Reporting to the Service Manager and working as part of a friendly team, as a HGV Technician, you will carry out inspections, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of commercial vehicles in a workshop environment, whilst also, on occasion, visiting our client's fleet customers at their premises. This role would therefore be ideal for someone who wants the variety of mobile work without the disruption of emergency roadside jobs!

Your key objectives will include:
  • Complete detailed inspections, servicing, and repairs on commercial vehicles, ensuring full compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults across HGVs, trailers, and wider fleet equipment.
  • Attend client sites for planned maintenance and repairs — no emergency call-outs.
  • Support the workshop team with repairs, routine maintenance, and general workshop operations when not on mobile duties.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and service documentation.
  • Adhere to all health and safety requirements both on-site and within the workshop.
In order to be eligible, you will need to be qualified to an IMI/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair as a minimum and ideally have at least several years' practical experience post-qualification as a HGV Technician. Overall, you must be a committed individual and a good team player. You must be able to produce a high quality of work in a busy commercial vehicle workshop environment and be motivated to work towards targets set for your team. Given the occasional mobile nature of this role, a UK driving licence with minimal points is essential. HGV Technicians with a Class 1 or 2 HGV driving licence would be highly advantageous however is non-essential.
