The role of a Restoration Technician or Classic Vehicle Technician is a specialist role which involves restoring, maintaining and upgrading classic vehicles. This role will give you the opportunity to work on rare and bespoke vehicles ranging from a variety of eras. The main responsibilities will include: maintaining vehicles, carrying out routine maintenance and repair, engine rebuilds, vehicle clean builds/restoration, mechanical and electrical repairs as well as welding and fabricating. The diverse nature of the vehicles means that different working methods and approaches will be required based on the individual vehicle. It is therefore important that a Restoration Technician has a diverse skills set, attention to detail and an appreciation for every vehicle.

As a Restoration Technician you will usually be based within a Workshop of an independently owned Dealership or a specialist restoration company. Due to the specialist nature of this role, most employers will look to take on a fully qualified technician with experience of working with Classic Cars or Vehicle Restoration as well as strong mechanical and electrical experience. Being able to work to deadlines, having strong problem solving skills and being a team player are also important qualities of a Restoration Technician.

Typical working hours for a Restoration Technician are up to 45 hours per week and this may include some weekend working. In return, you will be rewarded with a great salary; usually between £25k -£40k depending on the location and experience of the individual.
