Job seeker advice

As a Service Manager , you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running and profitability of the Service Team. A successful Service Manager will be capable of building excellent customer relationships across the Automotive industry as well as having strong leadership and people management skills.

Based in a Dealership, this role is fast paced and target driven. You will report into the General Manager and be expected to be proactive in motivating and supporting staff to perform, developing and improving processes and systems as well as driving the Business forward. Your overall objective will be to increase efficiency, turnover and profits to exceed set budgets.

Since this is a managerial role and relies on people management and strong commercial awareness, employers will generally look for someone with a proven track record of managerial success, experience within a commercial aftersales department and the ability to communicate with people at all levels. A Service Manager should be self-motivated, enthusiastic and act as a mentor for their team. Most employers will also request a full UK Driving license in this role.

Typical working hours for this role are around 40 hours per week and some weekend working should be expected. In return, you will be rewarded with a great salary; usually between £22k -£25k plus generous bonuses based on performance.

In terms of promotion, this role provides a fantastic stepping stone for an ambitious individual to prove themselves. The natural next step for the right candidate is Aftersales Manger.
