MOT Tester & Vehicle Technician Required in Eastbourne, East Sussex!
  • Basic Salary: Negotiable upon experience + high bonus (OTE circa £40,000)
  • Location: Eastbourne, East Sussex
  • Working Hours: Monday – Friday 08:30 – 17:00
  • Extra Hours: Saturdays available but not contracted, paid at 1.5x overtime

Our client, a family-run franchised main vehicle dealer with multiple sites across the South East, is seeking a qualified and experienced MOT Tester & Vehicle Technician for their busy Eastbourne workshop. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who thrives on a variety of challenging tasks—from MOT inspections to engine repairs, gearboxes, and major recalls like airbags and brake pedals. Key Responsibilities as a MOT Technician:
  • Conduct MOT inspections in accordance with government standards within designated time slots
  • Carry out repairs, diagnostics, and servicing, including complex jobs like engine work, clutch replacements, gearbox repairs, and recalls (airbags, brake pedals) which can take 6-7 hours
  • Interpret technical instructions, repair orders, and manufacturer quality procedures accurately
  • Keep technical skills up to date through ongoing training
  • Road test vehicles responsibly, accurately record work done, and ensure thorough documentation
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workshop environment in compliance with health and safety standards
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and customers
MOT Technician Profile & Requirements:
  • Level 3 MOT test qualification and valid MOT Licence (Class 4) essential
  • Proven experience as a senior or master level Technician—ideally with engine, gearbox, clutch, and major recall repairs
  • Experience with large jobs, including airbags and brake pedal recalls, is highly desirable
  • Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented, well-organised, and able to work under pressure effectively
  • Positive attitude and team player mentality
  • Right to work in the UK
